Most size charts list garment measurements taken flat, not body measurements. To compare, lay a piece you already love on a table, measure it the same way and match the numbers rather than the letter on the label.
Expect a relaxed jacket to measure 10–20 cm more than your chest; that extra room is called ease. Dropped shoulders will always read wider, so check sleeve length too.
